According to the above research methods, it led to several key findings in two aspects. One aspect is about the user experience of the expiry date. The other aspect is about the way of recording live with a mobile phone.

# The user experience of the expiration date

The interaction between the shelf life and people is relatively simple, and the interaction between shelf life and people mostly stays at the level of information transmission. The freshness of the food is communicated to the user, and the user can further process the food, such as disposing of the expired food or eating it in time to avoid waste. Therefore, most of the projects concerning the shelf life are around the record of the expiry date. The majority focus on how to help users record the shelf life of food and remind users that the food has expired.

# The way of recording lives with a smartphone

Regarding looking back, people tend to recall the past by checking social media. There are two reasons behind this. First of all, because social media has the ability to record text, users can see a lot of information at the time when they look back, reminding them of more memories, which is an ability that photo albums do not have. Therefore, users will organize photos and send them to social media instead of browsing their own albums. What's more, it is inconvenient to search for photos from the album. Because there are too many photos in the mobile phone album, it takes a lot of time and experience to organize the album, which brings a lot of extra burden to the user. This has led to a lower frequency of people browsing albums, and many photos have been dusted and lost value. In fact, many photos are not meaningless. Looking back at the album occasionally will bring new emotional touches. This is the value that Apple’s photo intelligent recommendation function brings to users. It can help users look back on the past and generate new experiences.

Ideation

The innovation stage is based on the findings of reviews and research. Through brainstorming, I explored the possible interaction between the expiration date and mobile phone photos. Finally, I chose to complete my design by making an application. The reason is that I hope that the application can be used as a carrier to complete the interaction between the expiry date and mobile phone albums through the application. The expiration date is from physical items, while mobile phone albums are virtual items. Therefore, an APP is a proper way to complete the association of virtual and physical items and transmit information.

Brainstorm

In order to better produce the app, I reviewed the app design of the previous research and understood the way to enter the expiry date information into the mobile phone system.

Due to the fact that the shelf life is usually a time point in the future and it is random, the shelf life can be used as a future time point for recommending wonderful photos.
