Interview
The aim of the interview is to study user’s habits of using mobile phone photo albums through interviews, including the habit of taking pictures and the habit of finding photos on the phone. I conducted a semi-structured interview with several interviewees to explore people’s shooting habits and interviewed them according to the prepared questions.
# Interviewee 1
Martin doesn’t take photos quite often. He occasionally records his life by taking pictures. When he was travelling, he only took 3 to 5 photos of each location as a souvenir. There are not many photos on his phone. After the trip, he will select a few good-looking photos and share them on social media. Due to the relative simplicity of his albums, it is easy to find photos in the album.
# Interviewee 2
Ellen likes to hang out with her friends and take nice photos. She and her friends often choose different angles to take many photos in one location. Sometimes in order to take good-looking photos, they constantly try to change new poses in this spot. It usually takes dozens of photos to pick out a few photos that satisfy them. Sometimes, her mobile phone will also be mixed with many single photos of her sisters and their group photos. After shooting, she usually selects the beautiful photos in it, marks them as favourites, adds them to the album, and then shares the beautiful photos to social media. But because she didn't have the habit of deleting other photos, after a period of time, her mobile phone accumulated many photos, which occupied a lot of memory. She needed software to help her organize her photos, but she was worried that her favourite photos would be deleted by mistake. She usually checks the photos she posted on social media, so she seldom looks through her photo albums to find past memories.
# Interviewee 3
Nancy is a person who posts social media frequently. She often uses photos to record the food she cooks and sends them to social media. She doesn't take many photos every time, so there are not many photos on her mobile phone album. When asked how she looked back on her memories, she said that she would look at her social media because there were descriptions written by herself on social media, such as when, where, with whom and why they were together. This information can help her remember better. The reason why she didn't look at the photo album to recall is that there was not enough information in the photo album to help her recall.
Conclusion
Many people sharing their lives on social media. Organized photos with more information are more valuable and can help users record and recall their lives
