FMP 02 | Literature Review II

已更新:2021年2月24日

The second part of the literature review is about the way people record their lives.

The Way People Chapter Their Lives

In the old days, the way people record their lives was relatively limited. Some people take pictures to record important moments in life. The photographs were washed out and stapled into a book. People browse through photos and look at them over and over again, thinking of memories of the past. Another way to evoke memories is that people use tokens to represent someone, and they often think of the other person when they see tokens. In addition, people can record their journey by buying souvenirs. Others keep a diary. Looking back at a diary is also a way to look back at past memories.

In the new era of the popularization of the Internet and mobile devices, the carrying objects of memory far exceed those of the past few decades. Many people use mobile phones to take photos and record videos to record their lives. Experiments show that taking pictures can enhance the fun of positive experiences and reduce the feeling of negative experiences (Diehl et al., 2016). Therefore, taking pictures can increase the fun of the experience (Diehl et al., 2016).

The popularity of social media such as Instagram has affected people's social relationships (Serafinelli, 2017). Every change in social structure affects how people express themselves (Serafinelli, 2017).

According to statistics, in 2019, 1.8 billion photos were posted on social media platforms every day (2017).

This information will always be stored on social media and people can look back at any time.

In the era of information bombing, we are not only disturbed by external overload information but also trap ourselves through high-frequency information records. Since there are too many photos and it is difficult to find wonderful memories among the many photos. In some cases, only when people’s purpose is to share their past experiences with others, will they look for past photos in the album to share with others.

Conclusion

After completing the literature review, I found that the interactions between expiration date and people are usually the way of information transmission. Hence, the shelf life can be given more meaning by associating more information. At the same time, let the mobile phone album as a carrier, link the shelf life information with the photo information, and streamline the precious memories.
