An experience of a one-day journey of travelling around London.
A Trip around London
Our tutor took us a trip around London on Sep 29th. We head to the Pier, Monument to the Great Fire of London, Borough Market and London Mithraeum. The topic is to define one of the sense in this journey and bring it to the classroom. We took lots of pictures through the journey to record the experience of senses.

Discuss the topics
At first, we made a sensory map to sort out our ideas. We shared our experiences with each other. Zain told us about the experience of the rainy day at the bank. Jason told us about the experience of feeling the nature could embrace everything. I talked about the experience of climbing to the top of the monument. We tried to conclude these ideas and put them together in one project, but we find that it's hard to combine them together.
Therefore, we were thinking of showing experiences in different boxes with different contexts. We want to show 4 different experiences in 4 different boxes.
In my box, I want to put an upside-down hourglass to show the phenomenon that lots of people were outside the monument only a few went to the top.

After tutorial
Our tutors pointed out that our project was more like four projects. There is no relationship between these four boxes. So we changed our plan and chose to show the experience inside the monument.
Definition of Experience
I drew a diagram of many changes when going up inside the monument. The diagram shows the mood changes, physical power changes and air changes. We discussed these changes and want to show the changes of air and light. People`s mood could be affected by making an impact on their senses. So we made plans based on this.

Plans
We made lots of plans. However, most of them failed when we were making prototypes. And some of them were too complicated to realise.

Final Plan
Here is the final plan we chose.
We cut 12 pieces of cardboard and insert 3 cardboards in each corner of the box. Also, we cut a square hole on each vertical side of the box and use wire to make a net and use the net to cover the hole.

Final product
In this project, when the experiencer put the product on the head. We pull out the cardboard one by one on each side. During this process, space inside the box becomes wider. More light and air go into the box. Finally, when all the cardboard is pulled out, the experiencer could see the hole on each corner. It is possible to see the outside world through the hole with wire covered. The whole experience of our product simulated the air, space and light changes inside the monument.
